Italian is now available on Vocabingo

Italian is now the fifth language available on Vocabingo. Starting today you can learn the 2,000 most common Italian words using the same spaced repetition method that already powers our French, Polish, English and Spanish courses.

Italian replaces German on the landing page language cards. It was the most requested addition over the past months, and the Romance-language family made it the most natural extension of the curriculum we already maintain for French and Spanish.

Italian shipped through the same careful rollout we use for every new language. Vocabulary lists, conversational fillers, interface text, example sentences and per-language translations all went through review before launch. The example sentences in particular were checked for natural register and accurate context, so what you learn on day one is what you would actually hear from a native speaker.

Italian is spoken natively by around 65 million people and remains one of the most studied second languages in Europe. For learners who already know French or Spanish, the shared Latin roots make it one of the fastest Romance languages to reach a conversational baseline. The curriculum prioritises high-frequency function words first, so the first 200 words you learn cover roughly half of everyday written Italian.

Italian is available to all users. On the free plan it counts as your one active language. On Pro you can learn Italian in parallel with French, Polish, English and Spanish, with the daily review cap, learning mode and goal configured per language.
